NEW YORK– The premiere Asian-American music channel on Direct TV, MYX, will take part in the historic Rock in the Box Weekend on August 29 and 30, 2008 in New York City.

It was reported that the music channel will be sending a crew to cover the historic event and will feature some of the bands that will be playing, as well as the ones in the compilation album, Rock in the Box 2.

According to a network producer, they are aware of the magnitude of Rock in the Box Weekend, hence their decision to team up with Soulworks and Poptimes Magazine and bring this growing scene to a wider audience.
As for the label and the magazine, the involvement of MYX marks a new beginning in the development of the Filipino-American music scene.
“This is unprecedented in the independent Filipino-American music scene,” said Ted Reyes, editor of Poptimes Magazine and A&R of Soulworks Records. “We have been praying for mainstream media participation since 2005. Now it looks like we finally have it.”

In recent months, the mainstream Asian-American media companies, especially the Filipino Channel, have been covering local independent Filipino rock bands in their quest to gain nationwide, and even global recognition.

Rock in the Box Weekend is the historic gathering of North American Filipino artists to celebrate the release of Rock in the Box 2- the compilation album.

The pre–launch party will be on Friday, August 29 at Rehab NYC (25 Avenue B, New York, NY) and the album launch party will be on the next night, Saturday, August 30 at Crash Mansion (199 Bowery, NYC)
