‘Pinoy Dream Academy,’ ‘Philippine Idol’ And ‘Super Inggo’ Stars At The 1st Notre Dame School In The Philippines And Asia
Pinoy Dream Academy’s Yeng Constantino, Philippine Idol’s Reymond Sajor and Super Inggo’s Sam Concepcion are the topnotch singers who will take part in the Diamond Jubilee Celebration at Notre Dame of Midsayap College (NDMC) in Cotabato, which is the very first Notre Dame school in the Philippines and Asia. This historic event is aptly titled “Sidlak” and set on Feb. 17, Sat., at NDMC soccer field.
Pinoy Dream Academy Grand Star Dreamer Yeng Constantino will lead around 7,000 participants from different Notre Dame colleges and universities from General Santos, Marbel, Kidapawan and Cotabato City in singing her phenomenal hit composition “Hawak Kamay,” while calling on all Notre Dameans to continue on serving with compassion and excellence.
Philippine Idol balladeer Reymond Sajor will render a sneak peek into his remake of Fr. JBoy Gonzales, SJ’s classic song “Panunumpa,” earlier popularized by fellow Trumpets singer/actor Carol Banawa. Reymond will also recount his winning moment as Grand Prize Winner in the first Hamilton Canada Talent Hunt. He will sing “This Is The Moment,” from “Jekyll and Hyde The Musical,” his winning piece in the said international competition prior his stint in Philippine Idol.
Equally first-rate, Little Big Star Grand Prize Winner Sam Concepcion will wow the crowd with his pop and R&B styling and moves to “Footloose,” from “Footloose The Musical,” “Get’cha Head in the Game” from “High School Musical,” and “Super Hero,” theme song of ABS CBN’s top-rating fantaserye “Super Inggo.”
While in Midsayap, Cotabato, all three artists will appeal for peace and order in Mindanao.
Notre Dame Academy (NDA) in Midsayap, Cotabato formally opened its doors to students in July 1941. Founded by the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, NDA has been the first of all established Notre Dame schools in the archipelago and the Asian Region. The outbreak of World War II prompted the temporary closure of the institution on that same year. It reopened in 1946 with Fr. Robert Sullivan, OMI as director.
In June 1960, NDA started to offer collegiate courses to students with Fr. Charles Prass, OMI as its first Rector. The institution has since been named as Notre Dame of Midsayap College (NDMC).
On NDMC’s 65th year, the institution stands proud of its accomplishments and of what it has become – 65 years of selfless and dedicated service. NDMC traces its history from its humble beginnings to being a stronghold of learning. Through time, NDMC has become a compassionate community with remarkable commitment coming from its leaders. Fr. Romeo Saniel, OMI is NDMC’s Diamond Jubilee President.
ABS CBN, Yes Magazine, DXOL Cotabato, DXDM Kidapawan and DXOM Marbel will cover this major event in Mindanao.
