This is the checklist of a world-class balladeer. This is the checklist of Martin Nievera.
Think of Martin Nievera and the word “forever” comes to mind. It’s akin to his staying power and that of his songs. As he celebrates his 25th year in the industry, we know it’s not about to end here. We know this is merely another milestone in his illustrious career.
As a testament to this, Martin Nievera offers another feather to his cap with a double-CD collection entitled Milestones. It contains 25 tracks that have touched Martin Nievera’s life and will surely be as memorable to fans everywhere. Each track corresponds to a year – from 1982’s Somewhere Down the Road when Martin debuted singing in the Philippines to his take on the 2007 Bill Fayne and Clint Holmes song, I Sing.
“This album is about 25 years of music in my life. It’s all about giving back now rather than taking,” Martin shared.
Marking Martin’s career are achievements that followed him every step of the way. His first album, Martin…Take One, in 1982 turned platinum in only 5 months – a record back then. In the same year, he also won the trophy for Most Promising Entertainer Award. It all proved to be the start of something big for Martin.
From then on, he continued to rake in gold and platinum awards for his records, while at the same time being active in other ventures like hosting a number of hit TV shows, endorsing a multitude of products, act in several movies, headline in several sold-out concerts here and abroad. His concerts were so successful that he was hailed as the “Concert King of the Philippines.” Branching out to gigs out of the country, he went on to conquer the stages in Europe and the US as well.
In the new millennium, Martin adds two more milestones to his career. Some say these significant developments are like Martin finding himself “new homes.” First of these is his “new home” in Las Vegas where he has top-billed in the famous The Golden Nugget hotel at the heart of the entertainment capital of the world.
His second “new home” is his new recording label. Martin has signed up with EMI Philippines. The partnership kicked off with the hit album When Love is Gone. It boasts of 17 heart-break songs that propelled it to Gold standing. It was closely followed by Awit ng Puso that covered OPM pop classics that quickly turned Gold as well.
This year, his new album, Milestones, is poised to gain a major share of the listening public with songs such as Forever, Hard habit to Break, ‘Til My Heartaches End, and Forevermore, along with upbeat tracks like Time of My Life and Smooth. These are joined in by OPM hits like Aiza Seguerra’s Pagdating ng Panahon, Jimmy Bondoc’s Let Me Be the One, punctuated by Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On.
It’s all in this album – happiness, heartbreak, passion, love – all presented in the unique Martin Nievera signature. Expect to listen to these timeless classics 25 years from now and relive the memories of Martin and his music.
Milestones is now available music stores nationwide, released by EMI Philippines. This was made possible by Smart Gold, Discovery Suites, Love Radio and the Manila Bulletin.
